As I bid farewell to **Owen & Engine**, a beloved British restaurant nestled at 2700 N Western Ave in Chicago, I reflect on the exceptional offerings that made this spot a local favorite. With customers like P. Moore hailing their **burger** as one of the top contenders in the city—juicy and packed with flavorful *caramelized onion*, *bacon*, and a *fried egg*—the kitchen consistently delivered standout dishes. Delilah Rose echoed this sentiment, praising the burger's incredible filling nature while also recommending the must-try *bone marrow*. Many reviewers seem to share a fondness for quirky menu items like the *scotch egg* and *escargot scallops*, adding a unique twist that made dining here a whole experience. The atmosphere is relaxed, embodying a true bar vibe, where attentive bartenders provide great service. I'm saddened to see this gem close its doors, but its legacy will undoubtedly linger among the loyal patrons. Owen & Engine etched itself in our hearts not only for its top-tier burger but also for the wonderful memories shared here.

Been a few times but since it is the place's last day I'll do a review. Already know I got the burger n fries with beer and shot special. The burger is top 10 in the city but imo not top 5. The burger come with caramelized onion, bacon, fried egg and is seasoned well. 9.0. It's not a small burger either, gotta two hand this bad boy and it definitely gets messy. Fries are ok but it comes with this aioli sauce that brings it together. It's a real chill bar vibe and the bartenders are attentive to make sure you are good while you are there. Sad to see this go, but the legacy will remain as a top tier bar for a solid burger. Overall 9.3

Stoped but this place since it’s right across the movie theater.... Burgers where amazing I didn’t get to take pictures of the burgers but they were truly amazing ! Super filling I couldn’t even finish mines. We also got a order of bone marrow super yummy must try if you have never tried it before. We also had the fried egg thing but it was ok nothing that would have me going back again for that. Burgers: 10/10 Bone marrow:10/10 Fried Egg thing: 7/10 Service: 7.5/10

Had to revisit Owen and Engine one last time for dinner before they close. And it was a fantastic meal. We got the scotch egg, escargot scallops, pot of mussels and burger. Sad to see it close as it'll have a special place in my heart and stomach.

Will always be one of, if not my favorite burger in Chicago. So sad to see this place closing, but was happy to be able to go one last time. The burger was as delicious as ever, and the spaghettios were both nostalgic and delicious. Had to get the scotch egg as usual as well.

Amazing experience! We sat upstairs and were treated very well! Highly recommend dipping the pork rinds into the French onion soup! Great beer and cocktail menu too!!

Overall a very good meal and great atmosphere. Very chill place with friendly and helpful staff. Feels like you are indeed in an old English pub. We had several dishes with the marrow and scallops both being among my favorites. The pasty was also very good, the chutney had a great flavor. The burger was very good but slightly too much onion for me. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun new place to try.

Kept hearing about Owen & Engine ranked as 1 of the best burgers in Chicago. I had to try that burger! We came right when it opened at 5pm. No tables or bar seats were open so we had to sit at the couch and coffee table are upstairs. There were a lot of tables open; so I wonder if it was a staffing issue. The cheeseburger tasted like French onion soup (onions and cheese topping) on a burger. It was very unique and tasty. I enjoyed it. The dipping sauce for the fries was tasty! I got my burger with the add on cheese, bacon, and an egg. Also, tried the bangers and mash which was delicious. 2 different sausages; both were very excellent. The gravy had a very homey taste which enjoyed very much. Always enjoy British food and this British Pub; Owen & Engine had good food. Lucky we got in. They have an up stairs and downstairs but still isn’t very big in there. If want to get a table vs coffee table. Probably should call the restaurant ahead of time to get a reservation.

Owen & Engine is back open! Their food was so good and worth the wait. You can tell they are working through some of the challenges that come with being closed for nearly two years, but overall the staff was nice and the ambiance was great. We sat at the bar and tried the Mission Trip cocktail, a draft beer, the soft pretzel (the cheese with it was AMAZING), and the vegetable korma - so good! It would be helpful to have a reservation as we walked in (around 9:40pm) and they had a 15 minute wait and suggested we go to Maplewood Brewing (5 minute walk away) to wait, which we did.
